Dear
Parents,
As
I write this letter, we are passing into the season of Autumn.
The gospel tells us that Jesus, on many occasions, "went
away for a while" out into the desert to pray and relax.
Our summer is spent deepening our own spiritually and taking
time to rest. This is the reason for our summer: to relax, enjoy
the change of pace and spend time with our family.
St.
Edward Catholic School builds upon the foundation that you as
a parent have built in your child's life at home. Students usually
begin the new school year with excitement and enthusiasm - even
if they don't show it! The anticipation of new classes, new
friendships, and seeing old friends provides real motivation
and exciting experiences.
Each
of us needs to do our part to strengthen the quality of Catholic
Education and outreach to others. Together we strive to nurture
our Catholic faith, challenge our students, and care for each
child in our school. Our theme for this school year is "Grow
in the Lord in Character, Compassion and Values." We have
a strong tradition of Catholic Identity as a model Catholic
school in the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston. Everyone is
responsible for the religious mission of the school. St. Edward
Catholic School is a vibrant faith community and committed to
Christian service and outreach to others. In this school - "Catholic
means that everyone is welcome."
I
want to thank all of those who volunteer their time, energy
and talents to St. Edward and invite new families to become
active participants in our school. I would also like to thank
the teaching staff for their dedication and commitment to Catholic
education.
We
also continue to remember Ms. Brinley who holds a special place
in our minds and hearts - she will be greatly missed.
St.
Edward School has always been a place of academic success, nurturing
love, joy, pride and outreach to others. I am looking forward
to another good school in partnership with you.
God's
blessings to all of our families as we slowly recover from IKE.
Thank you to all of the teaching staff, children, and our families
for returning to St. Edward with such a positive spirit. Your
smiles and dedicated concern for others surely is a "shining
star to all of us" during this time of healing. May Jesus
continue to shine his face upon those still recovering.
