WARM WELCOME TO OUR NEW STAFF-2008-09
Mrs. Kristi Kowalski - Kindergarten
Mrs.
Kowalski comes to St. Edward Catholic School with over six years
of educational experience. Her most current position included teaching
French in the Klein ISD. She has also taught English in grades one
through five at the Academie d'Orleans in Issoudun, France. During
the 2002-2004 school years, Mrs. Kowalski served as a Pre-K and
Kindergarten teacher in the Houston ISD and comes well qualified
in the area of early childhood education. Mrs. Kowalski is a Texas
certified teacher in the areas of Early Childhood Education, French
and English as a Second Language. She holds her degree from the
University of Houston and is currently working on her Master's Degree
in Education Administration.
Mrs.
Dawn Lorenz - First Grade
Mrs.
Lorenz comes to St. Edward Catholic School from the New Caney ISD
where she taught both fourth and fifth grades. She has taught for
ten years and also has an extensive background in the early elementary
grades. Mrs. Lorenz hold her BA degree from Sam Houston State University
in Huntsville and holds her Texas Educators Certification for grades
one through eight. Mrs. Lorenz has been listed in Who's Who Among
American Teachers 2004.
Mrs.
Laura Russell - Fourth Grade
Mrs.
Russell comes to St. Edward Catholic School from the Klein ISD where
she taught 6th grade mathematics for both regular and honor students.
She has also taught science and social studies at the Klenk Elementay
School, Klein ISD and fifth grade mathematics at the Mittlestand
and Kreinhop Elementary School in Klein ISD. Mrs. Russell also served
as the fourth grade team leader in Klenk Elementary where she taught
fourth grade. Mrs. Russel holds her BA in Elementary Education from
Stephen F. Austin State University in Nacogdoches.
Sister
Theresa Ho, O.P. - Religion fifth through eighth
Sr.
Theresa comes to St. Edward Catholic School from Our Lady of the
Gulf Catholic School in Port Lavaca, Texas. She has also taught
at Holy Rosary Church in Houston, St. Peter's in Seabrook, and at
St. Anthony in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. In all of these assignments,
Sister has taught Religion and has an extensive background in Theology.
Sister holds her BA in Theology from Creighton University in Omaha,
Nebraska.
Mrs.
Shirley Williams - Sixth through Eighth Reading
Mrs.
Williams returns to St. Edward Catholic School after completing
last year in 4th grade during Mrs. Karsnia's absence. Mrs. Williams
holds her MS degree in Gifted Education from William Carey College
in Hattiesburg, Mississippi. She also holds her BA in Elementary
Education from Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa. Mrs. Williams
has taught Gifted Education and Jr. High Reading at the Northeast
Middle School in Laural, Mississippi. She has also taught Reading
and all other subjects in Oak Park Elementary and Woodlawn Elementary
in Des Moines, Iowa. Mrs. Williams is listed in Who's Who Among
American Teachers and was Teacher of the Year at the Oak Park Elementary
School. She is also a Renaissance Master Reading Educator. We welcome
Mrs. Williams back in her new assignment.
Mrs. Elizabeth Moore - Part-Time Library
Manager
Mrs.
Moore comes to St. Edward Catholic School from the Redd School in
Houston where she taught fourth and fifth grade. She has also taught
2nd grade at St. Anne's Catholic School in Tomball. Mrs. Moore holds
her BA in English Literature and Curriculum from Chestnut Hill College
in Philadelphia, PA. Her multi-aged teaching experiences will bring
further enhancements to our library program.
Mr.
George Coleman III - Athletic Director/P.E. fifth through eighth
Mr.
Coleman comes to St. Edward Catholic School with more than eight
years of experience in P.E./Athletics. Mr. Coleman comes from St.
Francis of Assisi Catholic School where he served as PE teacher
and AD from 2002 to the present. He has also taught at Our Lady
of Mt. Camel Catholic School where he taught both PE and Health
education. Mr. Coleman holds his BA in Kinesiology from Texas A
& M University in Kingsville. Mr. Coleman also holds coaching
experience at St. Thomas High School and St. Pius X High School.
Sr.
Dominica Than-Thi Nguyen - School Nurse
Sr.
Dominica comes to St. Edward Catholic School duly blessed. Not only
will her spiritual presence enhance our Catholic identity, but she
is also a Registered Nurse. Sister Dominica comes from the Dominican
order in Houston.
Mrs.
Erin Makel - Computer 5-8
Mrs.
Makel will be assuming Mrs. Mamaradlo's Junior High Computer classes
as Mrs. Mamaradlo moves to her new position as the St. Edward Director
of Technology. Mrs. Makel holds her BA from the University of St.
Thomas in Houston in Theology and her Masters Ed. is in Curriculum
and Instruction in Technology from Grand Canyon University in Phoenix.
Mrs. Makel has worked at St. Theresa Catholic School and St. Charles
Borromeo Catholic Schools here in the Archdiocese of Galvestion/Houston
as a computer technology instructor. We welcome her to St. Edward
Catholic School.
Mrs.
Laurie Prest - Third Grade
Mrs.
Prest is a member of Prince of Peace Parish and comes to St. Edward
after serving as a 2nd grade teacher with Tomball ISD. Mrs. Prest
holds her BA from Our Lady of the Lake in San Antonio and is also
a certified teacher. In addition to her teaching experience, Mrs.
Prest has served as a substitute teacher in both grades one and
two in the Magnolia ISD. She has also taught as an Adjunct Instructor
at Tomball College where she taught Introduction to Computers. Mrs.
Prest was self-employed as "Rainbow the Clown" entertaining
at children's birthday parties and day care centers. You will find
Mrs. Prest to be delightful.
Mrs.
Sheila Arnona - Science 6-8 (Subsitute for Ms. Brinley)
Mrs.
Arnona comes to St. Edward School with her BA from Southwest Texas
State University in San Marcos. Her degree is in Science Health
Information Management. She has completed her student teaching assignment
in 7th grade in the Klein ISD where she worked at Kuehnle, Hildebrandt,
Kreinhop, Mittelestadt, Schindewolf and Krimmel schools. Her experiences
include Math, Science, Language Arts and Social Studies. Prior to
entering the field, Mrs. Arnona worded for the Transition Hospital
Corporation, Humana Care Systems and Humana Hospital. We are pleased
to welcome Mrs. Arnona to the St. Edward School family.
Mrs.
Janet Meza - Three year old Pre-School Teacher
Mrs. Meza comes to St. Edward School with college experience at
North Harris Community College and foreign language experience from
the University of Houston. Mrs. Meza is an experienced provider
of daycare and has worked with multiple groupings of children including
three year olds. She has provided seven years of daycare services
to children in the community. Mrs. Meza resides in Spring with her
family and is a member of St. Edward Church.
